1st Day of Spring

                          Happy Spring!

I am so happy to see the flowers & sunshine, hear the frogs, and smell the fresh cut grass. There is nothing better than a new spring day to lift those winter blues. The Lord has brightened my hopes and put a little whisper in my ear that the cold weather and long work days too shall pass.

Lego Days

I had a long break in between my work shifts today so I got to come home for awhile. It was a great time to relax, scrapbook, and play legos with Evan. We had fun talking about Sponge Bob, looking up the Sponge Bob "Campfire Song" Song on the internet, and playing with Sponge Bob legos. Evan kept trying to see how far he could make his boat roll across the floor and he shot lego missiles at the Sponge Bob characters. Legos are the best toys ever!!

Elsie`s Birthday

                            Elsie is 4 years old today!!

In between my work break, I was able to go see Elsie on her birthday. She is so cute and so grown up. I can`t believe that she is 4 now. Its not only ELSIE`S BIRTHDAY but it is also "Learn About Butterflies Day" and too cute - she was wearing a butterfly dress. I also got her a butterfly Happy Birthday balloon. Birthdays are not birthdays without balloons!! Happy Birthday Elsie!!!

Homemade Rootbeer

Last week I made rootbeer with the Y kids. It was actually very easy and fast process. Only 4 ingredients!! The whole room smelled of delicious rootbeer. The rootbeer has to sit for a few days so we haven`t tried it yet. If you would like to make your very own rootbeer, here is the recipe:

HOMEMADE ROOTBEER

makes about 5 gallons

INGREDIENTS

2 ounces McCormick Rootbeer Concentrate

5 pounds sugar

5 gallons lukewarm water & 1 cup pre-boiled water

1 package dry active yeast

DIRECTIONS

1. Dissolve yeast in 1 cup pre-boiled water. Allow yeast to dissolve undisturbed for 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Mix rootbeer concentrate with sugar in a large container (DO NOT USE ALUMINUM). Stir in 5 gallons lukewarm water.

3. Add yeast to sugar mixture and stir well.

4. Bottle immediately into plastic bottles, leaving 2-inch space at top of bottle. Cap tightly. Store each bottle on its side at room temperature for 1 to 2 days, then store upright in refrigerator for additional 3 to 4 days. Keep refrigerated and consume within 7 to 8 days. ENJOY!! 

Dr. Seuss Day!!

The Y kids and I had alot of fun having a Birthday party for Dr. Seuss Day. We made green scrambled eggs with cheese & ham for our breakfast snack. For breakfast dessert, we made peach/granola/yogurt parfaits and served them in green neon solo cups. While we ate our breakfast, the kids took turns reading the "Green Eggs and Ham" book. It was fun to see the kids dress up with their silly hats and Thing 1 & 2 shirts. One of the girls brought her Cat in the Hat stuff animal. We also had fun coloring Dr. Seuss color pages. Fun day!!

Makin` a Snowman

We had another snow day but not enough to keep me away from work. Papa said that we got about 2 inches (I think it might of been a little more). In the morning, I rushed out of the house a little after 5am to have extra time to drive slow through the snow. Large snowflakes were falling as I tried to open the front gate as it dragged through the snow. As I headed down the 45 Rd, I passed the snowplow going the other direction. I really wished to turn around and follow it home and jump back into my cozy bed. Instead I drove on (about 25mph) while sending up a prayer to make it safely to work. With God`s protection, I made it to work about 45 minutes later. South Marysville had no snow and it was just raining. While I was at work and stuck with late start Lakewood Y kids, Papa and Evan got to stay home, play in the snow, and make a snowman-the lucky ones!
