Day 16- Grocery Shopping in Arkansas

Today we went grocery shopping at a few stores in town. It was fun to see all the interesting stuff that they sale here. Papa really likes the chicken loaf and fried catfish. I tried the hush puppies and cinnamon paws. Delicious!! There was definitely stuff that we wouldn`t try like the mild souse (made with pork hearts, pork tongue, etc.) Gross!!
I get a kick out of all the cowboy hats and overalls.
Nana was not too afraid of the world`s longest gummy snakes.

Papa waiting for his fried catfish.

Papa and his fish...
The yummy hush puppies which are delicious with a little tartar sauce.

You can`t come to the south without seeing some maple syrup & grits.

I enjoyed eating a cinnamon paw. The cinnamon paws are like a glazed donut with cinnamon & sugar on the inside. Very sweet treat!!

ALDI is a new grocery store in Harrison. It was a "green" store that we enjoyed visiting. It was very open and a clean environment. The produce was very fresh and inexpensive. They also had no plastic or paper bags. You have to bring in your own cloth ones or purchase their store cloth bags (or do what we did and carry them out with no bags).
The grocery stores have huge buckets of LARD. Crazy!!
After all that shopping, Papa is checking his blood pressure.
