Day 18- Shopping with Grandma

Today we took Grandma out for the day. We wanted to make sure that we spent some time with just her. Our first stop was to a new grocery store on the edge of town that is ran by a Mennonite family. It is called Bent 'n' Dent Grocery. It was a very inexpensive store that had local foods such as jams, fruits, grains, dairy, & meats. We were happy to get 5 pounds of cheese for $9.99. The store also offers alot of reduced foods because of bent packages and dented cans.

Papa has been dying to get some fried chicken so we went to lunch at KFC. We got the "Kentucky" buffet which had a variety of southern foods. I tried almost everything but the chicken (Papa ate alot of the chicken). They had collard greens, hominy, pickled okra, fried okra, biscuits & country gravy, and much more delicious stuff (Nana didn`t try what she called the "strange stuff"). Grandma was amazed at how much food that Papa could eat.

After lunch, we went to Walmart and checked out the Arkansas souvenirs. Some of the stuff really made us crack up laughing. Wooo Pig Sooie!!

Grandma has cats running all around her house. She said a couple of them were playing with a copperhead snake yesterday. And she also told us that one of her cats has been bit on it`s paw by a snake before. I was able to take a picture of this cute one while it was eating.

I really liked this tree that is in Grandma`s yard.  It has pretty pink flowers. Grandma said that it is called "The Rose of Sharon".
We had a great day with Grandma and she really made us laugh alot. She has so many funny family stories. Its great to have this time with her. We thank God for our Grandma.
