National Kazoo Day

January 28th is not only National Kazoo Day but it is FELICIA`S BIRTHDAY!!
                    Happy Birthday Felicia

Here is a pic of Felicia with her Birthday cake that we all shared with her at the 2010 Birch Bay Scrapbook Retreat. Good Times!! And if you want some more good times, make your own kazoo. First things first, punch a hole close to one end of a toilet-paper tube. Then cut a piece of wax paper larger than the tube opening. Place it over the end with the hole (leaving the hole exposed); use a rubber band to secure. Hum into the open end.

Making Washi Tape

I tried making washi tape today and it actually turned out pretty cool!! I found the idea on The Green Frog Studio blog. For the design, I decided to use prayers and passages that were in our last Advent Bible Study Workbook (While We Wait). The project was pretty easy and took only about 5-10 minutes. First I put tape (I used scotch package tape) on the book page and rubbed it with a craft stick. Next I slowly pulled the tape off the page. Then I gently dipped the tape in a shallow bowl of water and I carefully rubbed off the excess book paper from the tape. It was amazing how it left the words and sticky part on the tape. Finally I adhered the tape to a picture and it looked great!!

Its Raining...

The snow is melting and Nana is happy!!

Yesterday in the afternoon, Papa and I worked again at shoveling the driveway. We used this giant gravel shovel that Papa had made a couple years ago. Together we pushed it across the driveway several times. It was definitely a workout and my lower back is killin` me. Today the rain is coming down and the snow is falling off the trees. We can also see how much the snow has melted in the driveway where we shoveled yesterday. Papa can`t wait to get out and go to town. Nana and Papa are hoping that it all melts fast.

6 Things to do on the Sixth Snow Day

 1. Attempt to shovel the driveway.
I went out this morning with great expectations. First I had to get the shovel out of the shed and that should of been the first clue to just turn around and go back inside to the nice, warm house. The shed lock was frozen and  took me a long time to get it unlocked. I thought I was going to have to go back to the house and get a lighter to warm it up but fortunately I kept turning it back and forth and it came unlocked. After getting the shovel, I headed for the driveway. I started shoveling behind the van carport but kept hitting ice (big chunks of ice). This made my work very slow going and I only got about 4 feet shoveled. Then I moved to the front driveway near the gate. The snow kept pounding down on me and my glasses got so fogged up that I couldn't see a thing. Its official...we need our own personal snowplow.

2. Keep the snow off the tree limbs.
Papa has worked hard everyday to get all the snow off the carports. He also has tried to keep the snow off the tree limbs so that they are not weighing down on the electric & phone lines. The snow is falling and falling. Papa wonders if it will ever go away.

3. Play with dog.
The last couple days we had Jenna in the house because the temperatures have dropped really low. This morning it was only 18 degrees outside on the porch. Cold!! She has enjoyed taking naps on her warm doggy mattress in the kitchen. We`ve had alot of fun playing with her. Her favorite games are tug-a-war with the chew rope and keep away with her yellow bone toy.

4. Knit a new scarf.
Nana has no desire to go outside and play in the snow. Instead she has been inside and has tried to keep busy. When she is not moving furniture, baking or cleaning, she has been working on her new knitting project. A new scarf...I wonder who it is for?

5. Eating pumpkin pie.
The last few days Nana has been making some delicious things. Yesterday she baked this wonderful pumpkin pie which I have already had two slices of. YUM YUM!! Jenna wants to eat it too. She loves pumpkin (I gave her pumpkin when she was a puppy to help her immune system).

6. Create new scrapbook pages.
With having all this time off, it has given me the opportunity to organize all of my scrapbook stuff. It feels really awarding to get so much accomplished. My last few albums have been seasonal ones and I would really like to stick with that kind of theme. So I have been working at categorizing alot of my stuff in Summer, Spring, Fall, or Winter files. So excited!! Today I am going to try to scrapbook another winter page.

Day Five: More Snow!!

Today Papa and I took a hike around our neighborhood. The snow was very deep so it was very slow going. In some places, the snow seemed to be up to my knees. Crazy!! We walked down to the lake first. The view was very beautiful and it was fun to see that almost the whole lake was iced over.

After leaving the lake, we headed down our street. The road was completely covered with snow and ice. We saw only a few cars driving on the road. Our neighbor dog met up with us and walked with us part of the way. She is a very friendly cute Siberian Husky with beautiful blue eyes. It was nice to get outside and go on a little hike together. Can you see my glasses fogging up?

We have so much snow that it is weighing down the tree limbs. Papa had to shake some of the snow off because the limbs are touching the telephone wires. There are also other limbs that are hanging down on our birdhouse and in part of the front lawn. Emma`s tree is so stacked with snow that we can barely see it.

We have many icicles on the house.

Papa measured the snow in backyard.

Jenna getting some time to play out in the snow.

Blueberry Snowball

After a day of snow, my "Blueberry" car has turned into a giant snowball. What is real funny is the Mickey Mouse antenna ball that is now a tiny snow ball!! In the last few days, we have accumulated at least a foot of snow. God has sure made this place a snowy white paradise! We are truly blessed to be able to stay home and enjoy all of His beauty!!
